It will see a fresh layout, new meeting room, remodelling of the pupil office and redecoration.
Principal Mrs Ricketts said a new reception was much-needed.
“First impressions are important and the investment will ensure a new, smarter, more welcoming and professional reception area,” she said.
A temporary reception is being used while the work is undertaken.
“It has created a little disruption for students and staff but that will be well worth it when the work’s complete,” said Mrs Ricketts.
The reception work is a result of Lincolnshire Gateway Academies Trust taking responsibility for the school on 1st May.
Its Chief Executive Officer Martin Brown said it was a sign of things to come.
Over the next two years, significant further investment will provide refurbished science, food technology and other classrooms, new changing rooms, and improved toilet facilities.
“We are committed to investing in the site and ensuring the town has a school to be proud of,” said Mr Brown.
“That means an outstanding teaching and learning environment. The refurbishment of the reception was desperately needed and we wanted to get the work done as soon as possible.
“It will be part of an ongoing programme to improve facilities for students and staff.”
The current reception work is being undertaken by local contractor Carters.
