Mrs Ricketts - searching for governors.
Kirton Academy has undergone a dramatic transformation – and now governors are being sought to support staff and ensure progress continues.
Since joining Lincolnshire Gateway Academies Trust earlier in the year, the school’s changed its name and uniform.
But, said Principal Emma Ricketts, appointed by the Trust a month before it formally took the reins, much more needs to be done.
"A governing body plays a key role in supporting the staff and senior leadership team.
"It is also there to offer challenge to ensure we are meeting our school improvement targets and continuing to make rapid progress, meaning children benefit from better outcomes.
"I have been pleased with the positive feedback we have received from parents, carers and the wider community over the last six months or so.
"It might be some of them might consider joining on our governing body. Likewise, it could be somebody with no current connection to the school who would like to contribute to our journey.
"To apply, you do not need to have had previous experience as a governor. The Trust will provide training and support.
"Time wise, it is down to the individual what commitment is made. The governing body meets termly three times a year for around two hours maximum.
"But there are opportunities to sit on different committees and come into school to support staff and lessons. It is up to the individual."
Chair of the Trust, Philip Bond, encouraged members of the community to come forward.
"I speak from personal experience that it is an incredibly rewarding role," he said.
"I hope people put themselves forward to support Mrs Ricketts and the rest of the staff in the terrific job they are doing.
"The role is very much focused on improving standards and outcomes of children. Governors are key to offering positive challenge, ensuring progress continues.
"We are looking for volunteers for the Local Governing Body. I think it’s a great opportunity to help shape the future Kirton Academy and ensure it continues to go from strength to strength."
Lincolnshire Gateway Academies Trust is based in Louth with responsibility for seven other academies.
Those applying for the roles must subscribe to its broad ethos:
The LGB is primarily responsible for the quality of education, student outcomes, and ensuring the Academy is part of the local community.
